FJA’s Super Bowl Picks

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Ok fans… moment you’ve been waiting for… Here are my picks:

1. Pittsburgh -7 over Cardinals:  The new steel curtain is just way too strong here. The entire AZ team relies on Warner and Warner will be rattled from start to finish. Don’t be surprised if Warner is relieved by Leinart tomorrow. Pitt needs a strong ground game to win — Willie Parker must have 120 yards for them to win. Running will be the key for Pitt and I believe they will get it done.

2. Under 46:  This is a tough one to call. Vegas came up with a great line for this game. The final score will be 31-14 Pittsburgh. Steelers will score a meaningless tounchdown towards the end of the game which will give you a scare. Fear not… 31+14=45 which means it will be barely under.

3. Cards +4 halftime:  I do believe it will be a close game by half time. Pitt may be leading by 3 and I won’t be surprised if Cards will be leading either. I almost like the half time spread more than the game spreads. Go with the Cards for your half time play!

Let me know your thoughts…  Prop bets will be posted later today or early tomorrow.

FJA Endorses World Sports Exchange

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Fake John Anthony would like to share an awesome gaming site with y’all.  It’s called the World Sports Exchange:  www.wsex.com

WSEX will have tons of prop bets for the Super Bowl…  They will also have Live Betting, which are option contracts. You can buy contracts at a certain value and sell the contracts during the game. All contracts are valued at $100 at expiration. For example, if the score for the big game is 0-0, it will cost you $55 to win $100 for Pittsburgh at -6.  If Pittsburgh scores, the value of the contract will go up to say $62 to win $100 — this means you’ve just made $7 (minus the spread) for every contract you own. It’s a very fun game and keeps you glued to the TV.

You can fund your account via a credit card as long as it’s not issued by Chase.

FJA endorses WSEX!  Go try it out.

Super Bowl Squares available on Rival Central

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Hey NFL football fans!  The Super Bowl is two weeks away. If you’d listened to me, you would have been a rich man/woman.  Fake John Anthony went 3-1 earlier today with wins:  Pittsburgh, Pitt Over and Phi/Phx Over.  FJA lost the Eagles — and didn’t really like it in the first place.

FJA is also happy to announce that you will be able to create and manage your Super Bowl Squares at www.rivalcentral.com.  Via Rival Central, you can:

  • Create as many leagues as you want online and manage them from a single account.
  • Invite league members to sign up and join your league by providing them with a League ID and League Password.
  • Get your squares filled quickly, all through the internet.
  • League members can log in, select and view all of their squares immediately and online.
  • League Commissioners can lock the squares, assign squares to players
that may not have internet access, and kick out deadbeat players.

And the best part is - IT’S COMPLETELY FREE!

AFC Championship Pick

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

The line for the game is Pittsburgh by 6 with an over and under of 33.5.  I have been betting Pittsburgh and Baltimore all year long. Both teams are great at covering spreads. FJA loves both teams and needs to decide on one.

Questions to answer:

1. Will Joe Flacco get away with mistakes he made against Tennessee? (If so, they should call him Shane Falco)
2. Can Baltimore run the ball effectively against the Steeler D?
3. Can the Steelers score more than 21 points?

Big Ben will outplay Flacco due to experience. I don’t think Pitt will give up many yards on the ground and will force Flacco to beat them. Pittsburgh should be able to move the ball against Baltimore unlike the regular season.

Prediction:  Pittsburgh will avenge its lost to Baltimore and head to the Super Bowl. I also believe they will be able to cover the 6.  The Pitt D will turn Joe Flacco into Shane Falco… Give them a few INTs and may even return one for a TD. With over and under at 33.5, I think these two teams can combine for 5 TDs. Final score will be Pitt 24 and Baltimore 14. They will bearly cover.

Pick:  Pitt giving 6 and Over.

NFC Championship Pick

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

The line is Philly -3.5 and Over/Under is 47 (or near 7 Touchdowns).

As much as I dislike the Eagles and betting with or against them, I would have to say they will win this game and go to the Super Bowl. The Cardinal win at Charlotte was a fluke. I don’t think they can light up Jim Johnson’s defense. Cards are weak without Boldin. I do think it will be a high scoring game which means 7 touchdowns should be a cakewalk. I like the over more than the game itself as I really don’t want to bet with or against the Eagles.

So … here are the picks:  OVER and PHI to cover the 3.5.
